Dear Ashland School District community,
We are excited to take the final steps in renaming John Muir Outdoor School.
We have conducted a thorough and transparent process including:
a) soliciting more than fifty new name ideas from students and the community,
b) forming a committee with broad representation to research names and evaluate them against the district and school's vision, mission, and values, and our equity policy,
c) narrowing the list down to four contenders which were then further weighed by JMOS students, families and staff,
d) recommending two name finalists to the school board for consideration
The two name finalists are:
1. Ashland Outdoor School
2. TRAILS Outdoor School: Trust Respect Awareness Interdependency Leadership Stewardship
