Liisa Ivary (currently in Education at Road Scholar/OSF) is excited to be directing the OSF Education department's cutting of Romeo and Juliet at Ashland High School this fall.
Romeo and Juliet: The setting will be the Pacific Northwest in the late 1960's, in the town of Verona. Two wealthy, prominent Catholic families - the Montagues and the Capulets - have been longtime rivals and enemies. The entire town is torn apart by their feud. Their only children (Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet) meet and secretly fall in love, setting up a crisis that forces the entire town to come to grips with the consequences created by their mutual hatreds. The production will run approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes (with one intermission).
Liisa is asking for those interested in auditioning to please prepare the following:
1 short 12 to 16 line passage of Shakespeare monologue (verse preferred)
1 short (1 minute) modern contrasting monologue
Potentially 8 bars of a song
Short movement call on Wednesday for all!
Please contact Betsy Bishop if you have any questions!

SUMMER TIME YUMMM AT AHS! As part of their Culinary “Egg Unit” with teacher, Maryetta Jacques, students Giovanni Jackson (left) and Anthony Mulhall (right) created these brunch staples! Dutch Babies, also called Bismarks, Dutch Puffs, or Hootennanies, are pancakes with an egg base that are baked rather than fried! Although Jackson and Mulhall topped theirs with macerated strawberries for a sweet morning, savory toppings like jalapeños and sour cream are sure to liven up any family breakfast! Kinda makes you want to go back to high school, huh?!

Summer School Art at AHS!
Today, in Mr. Parowski’s art class, students paid homage to famed English sculptor, photographer, and environmentalist Andy Goldsworthy by creating site-specific sculptures and land art.
Our thanks to Mr. Parowski and students Morgan Geness, Evan Whitmire, and Olive Montana for sharing their creations!
