About Our School

Dear Families,

Happy June! Summer is just around the corner and I hope you are getting geared up to spend quality time with your family outside in this beautiful weather!

I hope you will also dedicate some time to reading this summer! There is a lot of research abut "the summer slide" which is the loss of academic skills during the summer when students are not in school.  However, summer can also be an opportunity to build reading into your family routine and to get your child excited about books and learning.

"The long, lazy days of summer offer kids lots of opportunities to discover new interests, new books and the pure pleasure of reading just for fun. Summer is also a great time for hands-on explorations that connect kids to what they're reading - that helps build background knowledge and ensures that children are ready for the challenges of the new school year." Great resources for summer reading include:
1)    Your local Public Library which offers books, fun programs, and summer reading rewards.
