Julie

Julie Bleicker is our Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) here at Ashland Middle School. In her 2nd year at AMS, Julie works with students who need someone to talk to about difficult situations. About AMS, Julie says, “I love the kids and I really love my work. I just like talking to kids—I find them really interesting and insightful. They’re super funny and keep me on my toes.”

Julie comes to us from California where she grew up as a die-hard Dodgers fan in the San Fernando Valley. After high school, she studied at UC Santa Cruz and got her Masters in Social Work at the University of Michigan. Returning to the California, she has worked as a therapist in schools since 2002 including 12 years at Homestead High School in Cupertino (alma mater of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak).

Julie and her family moved to Ashland in 2019 to get away from the craziness of the Bay Area. She and her husband, Kenji, have a son, Ben, who is a senior at Ashland High School and another son, Casey, who lives in Southern California. Julie’s interests and hobbies include reading, running, and cooking. She’s a big fan of the Barefoot Contessa—she likes cooking shows where she can make the dishes afterwards—and her favorite young adult book/series is Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.
