Tami

This is just Tami Williams’ 2nd year as an Educational Assistant at AMS, but she has already made a big impact on our school culture. In addition to working with our 6th grade students in the classroom, Tami is an Assistant Director of our Black Student Union. “Representation is super-duper important,” Tami says. “It’s important because there aren’t a lot of people who look like me here. And being part of a younger generation, I think kids relate well to me.”

Tami and her fiancée moved to Ashland from the Bay Area in 2020 where she had worked as a preschool teacher for almost 7 years. She quickly adopted two kittens, Hunter and Oliver, from our resident Cat Lady and 6th grade teacher, Beth Oehler. In her spare time, Tami creates content on social media with channels on natural hair care and plus-size positive body images.

About her role at AMS, Tami says, “I’m very grateful to be in the position to advocate for kids because I didn’t have anyone like that when I was growing up. I’m happy to be a resource for kids.”
