wendy

You may recognize Wendy from one of the Provident HealthCare billboards around the Rogue Valley (there’s one outside the Tinseltown Movie Theater in Medford) or one of the local news features when she was training for the 2020 Paralympic Games. Wendy represented the US as a tandem cyclist at the 2019 ParaPan American Games in Lima, Peru. Legally blind, Wendy began losing her eyesight 20 years ago from a degenerative disease called Cone-Rod Dystrophy

She is a 6th grade Language Arts teacher on the Siskiyou team in her 10th year at AMS. Before settling into her current position, she was a special education teacher and speech and debate coach. What does she love about AMS? “The kids, the kids, the kids…. They make me laugh all day long!”

Wendy loves doing just about anything outside—rafting, hiking, swimming, camping, and, of course, riding a bike. Her three kids—Noah, Annie, and Asher—are all graduates of the Ashland School District.

Newly moved in to the just-completed 6th grade wing at AMS, Wendy says, “The new building is a beautiful, top-notch facility. Kids are happy to be in it, because it shows that the community cares about them.”
