André Carvalhaes, or Dr. Dre as he is known by his students, is the science teacher for the Aspen team. Born in Brazil, he got his Ph. D in Ornithology before moving to the U.S. migrating to Ashland from Boulder, Colorado. This is André’s 3rd year at AMS.
About working at AMS André says, “The community is outstanding. The cooperation and collaboration with the team model is unlike anything I’ve experienced before in education. Everybody works together to help each other.”
André’s favorite activities include bird watching, mountain biking, camping/backpacking, and really anything related to nature. He has a son and a daughter who are both students at Ashland High School.
