Daniel Tolliver is an Educational Assistant in Lucinda Miftahittin’s and Jennifer Campbell’s MAPS classrooms. New to Ashland Middle School this year, Daniel worked in a similar position at Bellview Elementary for 7 years before joining us. “This work is kind of a calling for me. My cousin was born with fetal-alcohol syndrome and I got to see the obstacles she faced. I was fortunate enough to be able to work with her when I was at Bellview, and I often think of the help she got when I’m working with our students here at AMS.”
Born in Eugene, Daniel’s family moved back and forth between Eugene and Ashland as he was growing up. Their family owned a farm in the hills above Ashland and Daniel attended both Bellview Elementary and Ashland High School. After graduating from North Eugene High School in 2012, Daniel moved back to the farm in Ashland to help care for his great-grandma. During that time, Daniel started raising goats which he did until his great-grandma passed and his family sold the farm. One of his fondest memories is bringing a baby goat in to Bellview and making presentations about goats to students.
Along with his wife, Brianna (whom Daniel met at North Eugene High School and married in 2021), and their dog, Baldur (named after the Norse god), Daniel loves hiking and camping around the Rogue Valley. With such deep roots in the community, we’re hoping Daniel will stay a long time.
