It's Classified Appreciation Week! Who are Classified Staff? Custodial, Maintenance, Nutrition Services, Bus Drivers, Technology and Web Services, Office Managers, Secretaries, Educational Assistants, and Youth Advocates. Without these talented folks, the operations of schools and the safe learning environments our students are welcomed into each day would not be possible. Thank you for your care, patience, creativity, and dedication! We appreciation you!

Thanks Helman Families past and present for supporting Doernbecher and Ashland High School scholarships by participating in Jack's Dodgeball Tournament. We are ASD! Community, connection, teamwork and togetherness. This is us.

We were honored to have Dr. Geneva Craig visit our BSU this afternoon! She shared about her life growing up during segregation in Selma, Alabama and joined the group in creating family trees that focused on the love that families create while also displaying how different one family can look from another. It was great having a few AHS BSU members join for this special afternoon! Thank you for visiting with us Dr. Craig!

Mr. Doug you will be missed! Thank you for being an incredible teacher and a special part of our community.

Helman Talent Show tonight from 6-8! Hope to see you there.

Clay Days! Thanks to the Bond we have kilns. Thanks to the PTA we have glazes and clay. And thanks to Ms. Allegra, awesome Helman mom, dragons are making beautiful clay art. Teamwork and togethernessđź’–.

Dragons explore forces and motion with the pinball machine challenge.

As part of our school wide positive behavior program, students and staff write Dragon Shout-Outs to others recognizing the ways others are modeling our Theme of the Month. Each week Principal Cuddeback draws two random shout-outs from a box and the winner's class gets to choose from a few prizes. This month's prizes are: dress the principal, recess in the gym with Mr. H, or choose a song for a school-wide dance party. Ms. Taylor's 3rd graders chose to "Dress the Principal" on Friday. They did a spectacular job! Monday we'll have a school wide dance party during announcements as another student's choice. Way to go Dragons!

Tomorrow is another Walk & Roll to School Day! Shout out to Katie & Amanda, awesome Helman parent volunteers, who inspire students to walk, bike, scooter or bus to school to help the earth and get good exercise. Thank you to RVTD for the fantastic incentives!

Kinders start their day singing and playing the Welcome Song with Mr. Greg connecting them to earth and community.

Kinders have been studying what plants and animals need to survive. With the help of species cards, made in partnership with North Mountain Park and Ashland School’s Foundation, kinder buddies paired up to make habitats at the Bear Creek Greenway.

The Dragon Running Club meets before school every school day from 7:45-8:15. All students are welcome to participate for any amount of time. Our leaderboard right now shows a few individuals have run 54 miles so far this year! Collectively, participating students have run over 800 miles! Special thanks to Jim Hagemann, PE teacher, the Ashland voters for approving the Facilities Bond, a generous anonymous donor, and the Helman PTA for making this new track a possibility for Helman students and the residents of Quiet Village.

Grateful for our continued partnership with Lomakatsi Restoration Project. This yearly stewardship project is an important part of our community fostering empathy, service, collaboration, and connection to the land. This year students helped restore an area of the Bear Creek Riparian Zone damaged in the Alameda Fire.
