AMS students had an incredible experience at the SOMEA Middle School Honor Band. Students from across Southern Oregon came together for a full day of rehearsals, learning challenging music, and performing for family and friends.

Setting Boundaries with Teens

Ashland High School Drama Club is hosting a fun, hands-on workshop just for middle school students on Monday, April 20th from 10:00 AM–4:00 PM at Ashland High School. Students will spend the day building acting skills, playing theater games, and connecting with high school performers.
The cost is $20 per student. To reserve a spot, email andrea.royse@ashland.k12.or.us.
A great opportunity for students interested in theater to learn, create, and have fun.

Ashland Middle School is teaming up with Southern Oregon Goodwill for a Mobile Donation Drive. Bring your gently used items to AMS and help raise money for our band program while giving reusable items a second life.

AMS band students kicked things off in style, performing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and the "Star-Spangled Banner" right from the pitcher’s mound.


Ashland Middle School brought 12 students to the Rogue Valley MathCounts Chapter Competition—four competing as a team and eight as individuals.
We’re proud to share that our AMS team earned 1st place, advancing to the State Competition at the OIT Wilsonville campus.

AMS Theatre Presents "Young Sherlock"
Join AMS Theatre for a mystery-filled performance of Young Sherlock by Craig Sodaro. Follow the young detective as he sharpens his powers of observation and solves a puzzling case. It’s a fun evening of suspense, clever clues, and student talent.

Have you heard the news about the AMS/Trails Brain Bowl Gold Team?
Last Thursday, the undefeated AMS Gold Team went head-to-head with the undefeated Valley School team and came out on top with a 46–34 victory.
This was the Gold Team’s final match of the season, securing a perfect undefeated record and making them the only undefeated team in their division.

🎶 AMS Musicians Selected to Perform with Rogue Valley Symphonic Band
Congratulations to three outstanding Ashland Middle School Wind Ensemble students who have been selected to perform with the Rogue Valley Symphonic Band at their upcoming concert.

These talented students will join the symphonic band for a special performance on March 15 at 3:00 PM at Oakdale Middle School in Medford.

AMS Student Earns Top Honor in Regional STEM T-Shirt Contest
Congratulations to Bodhi Carstensen for taking first place in the 2026 SOESD STEM Hub First Annual T-Shirt Design Contest.
Bodhi was selected as one of four regional finalists, and following a live vote at the SOREDI Breakfast in Ashland, his design was chosen as the overall winner.
We also celebrate Neva Rohlen, who was named a top four finalist. Having two AMS students recognized at the regional level highlights the creativity and talent within our school community.
We are proud of both students for representing AMS so well. 💙💛




Congratulations to 7th grade band student Winston May!
Winston is the 2026 OMEA Middle School Composition Contest Champion. The Oregon Music Educators Association sponsors this statewide contest each year, and this was Winston’s first time submitting one of his original compositions.
The selection committee reviewed entries from across Oregon and chose Winston’s piece, “Hopeful Field,” as an exceptional work.
Way to go, Winston! Keep creating music. 🎶
🌸Cherry Blossom Dance - Date Change
ASD middle school students are invited to the Cherry Blossom Dance on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at the Ashland High School Small Gym. This event is hosted by the AHS Asian Student Union.
Students must have a completed permission form and bring their student ID to attend.
It’s a great opportunity for students to connect, celebrate, and enjoy a fun evening together.

AHS Girls Basketball Camp (Grades 5–8)
Ashland High School is hosting a Girls Basketball Camp for 5th–8th grade girls on February 7 and February 14, 2026, from 9:00am–12:00pm in the AHS Main Gym. Cost is $50 per day or $80 for both days, and campers receive a free camp shirt plus other prizes. All proceeds support AHS girls basketball fundraising.

Ashland’s 38th Annual MLK Day Celebration is happening Monday, January 19 at the Historic Ashland Armory, and we’re proud to share that Ashland Middle School students will be part of this meaningful event.
🎤 AMS students Neva Rohlen and Zoey Robertson Horner will recite a poem in collaboration with the Ashland High School BSU. Zoey will also perform “Black Girl Joy” by Joshunda Sanders—a powerful celebration of identity, resilience, and joy.
🕛 Event begins at 12:00 PM (doors open at 11:30 AM)
📍 Historic Ashland Armory
🎟️ Free and open to the public
The celebration includes live performances, a keynote address, and a community march to Ashland Plaza for the “I Have a Dream” speech.
