Louise

If you come to Ashland Middle School on a Friday, you’ll probably catch Louise Claussen wearing one of her “Be Kind” shirts. Louise is an Educational Assistant here at AMS who is devoted to the idea of spreading kindness throughout her day which is just one of the things that makes her such an invaluable member of our staff. This is Louise’s 7th year at AMS as an EA in the Site-Based Classroom. Before coming to AMS, she worked in a similar capacity at Hedrick Middle School for 6 years. About her experience in the classroom, Louise says, “When I first started I wasn’t sure I had the right temperament, that I had enough patience. But I discovered I absolutely have enough patience, and I love it! I adore the kids. It’s a friendly place to be. All the kids are exceptional.”

Louise moved to Ashland 14 years ago with her husband, Christian. They have two daughters—Heather who lives in Los Angeles, and Sarah who lives in the Rogue Valley. Louise loves baking (she’s a Great British Baking Show devotee), camping, kayaking, and walking.

About the Site-Based Classroom, Louise says, “The new space is so well-planned. It’s bright, and we have outdoor space which is fantastic. We have sensory rooms and a common room. It’s just what the kids need.”
