My name is Amber Langer and I am the new School Counselor/Child Development Specialist at JMOS. I earned my Masters of Social Work from Portland State University and have worked with women, children, and families as a Clinical Social Worker. Prior to joining the team at JMOS, I worked for La Clinica and the Children’s Advocacy Center.
I grew up in Wisconsin and have lived in the Rogue Valley for the past 20 years. Although I love traveling to other places, I have not found anywhere else I’d rather call home. The mountains, valleys, lakes, and rivers of Southern Oregon are my habitat! I feel grateful for the opportunity to raise my daughters in this community. Some of my favorite things to do are hike, read, dance, snuggle with my puppy and orange cat, watch my daughters play soccer, and connect with family and friends. I speak Spanish enjoy that my family combines the language and culture of the US and Mexico.
As a Social Worker, I am motivated by the core values of the profession: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. In congruence with these values, I will do my best to serve the students, family, and staff at JMOS. I am committed to supporting students so that they can develop skills and resilience that will help them at school and beyond. During this time of Distance Learning, I will adapt and build relationships with students, staff, and community partners in creative ways.
Some ways I will connect during Distance Learning are:
with the whole class during synchronous learning times or through recorded videos to share social-emotional lessons/resources
small group meetings with students via Zoom
one-on-one Zoom meetings with individual students
phone or Zoom meetings with parents

You can complete it electronically and email it to me or fill out a paper copy and return it to the school. Please feel free to communicate with me if you have any questions or feedback. I value your insight and am dedicated to supporting this community.
