Budget Committee

The Ashland School District is governed by the provisions of ORS 294.305-294.565, known as the Local Budget Law. Public bodies under this statute are required to create a Budget Committee, members of which are the governing board members and an equal number of community representatives meeting certain requirements. This committee is charged with reviewing and approving the budget presented by the district’s administration for recommendation to the Board of Education, which has final approval authority.

Community members are appointed by the Board of Education following a public nomination or application process and serve for a term of three years. The Committee meets in the spring of each fiscal year for one or more sessions to review, discuss and accept or revise recommendations put forward by the district administration.
