Ashland School District No. 5, Jackson County, Oregon - The Capital Project Advisory Committee met in a work session Monday, July 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the District Board Room.    Present were:

I.          Call to Order


            The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by Pam Lucas.


II.        Roll Check


            All members were present with the exception Ruth Alexander, William Anderson, Ben Bellinson, Dahna Black, Karen Clarke, Juli Di Chiro, Shawn Grimmesey, Kate Kennedy, Heidi Parker, and Jeff Schlecht.


III.       Review of Bond Investments and Earnings


            Pam Lucas reviewed the bond investments and earnings.  Total earnings as of June are $2,322,843. 


IV.       Review of Budget and Schedule Projects


Scott Perala of Heery International reviewed the budget and schedule projects.


Alan DeBoer and Rick Barth asked the district to look again at the reduction of the gym floor space and make sure that was approved by the athletic department.  They further asked the district to review the possibility of adding back the covered walkway for music and to consider adding funding to ensure that the scene shop/black box solution will work well for the theater department.


V.        Update on School Projects


Gary DeCock reviewed the school projects. 


Bellview - Adroit Construction was selected as the General Contractor for the Bellview project.  Demolition work is scheduled to begin July 14.  Negotiations are completed with the Grange, and the District has completed the purchase of the access corridor.


Helman the foundation has been poured for the library building.  The pre-cast concrete wall panels were delivered and installed on the gym.  Walkway repair work has been started.


Lincoln the process is underway to obtain a building permit for the work to be done at Lincoln.  Vitus Contstruction was awarded the site drainage and fire escape upgrade project and has begun work.  The showers and ADA upgrade drawings are 95% complete.


Walker Construction is underway.  Covey/Pardee Landscape Architects and Terrasurvey submitted proposals for the redesign of the Ecotone landscape upgrade.  Proposals have been approved and design work began July 1.


AMS The walls and roof are completed on the cafeteria addition.  Electrical and plumbing is roughed in.  Skylights are installed.  The new concrete ramp and stairs are poured.  The work to accommodate the temporary stay for the Bellview School is scheduled to begin the first week of July.  The replacement roots are completed at the commons/classroom building and the John Muir rooms.


AHS The City of Ashland is reviewing the construction documents for the building permit.  A value engineering process to reduce the Guaranteed Maximum Price removed approximately $1,000,000 from the project.  The architects, engineers, contractors, and Heery are working to review the plans to meet the revised building by July 21. 


Willow Wind  - The HVAC upgrade, deck, roof replacement, and parking lot expansion project was awarded to Vitus Construction.  Demolition work began on the deck replacement on June 22.  The county is reviewing the drawings for the parking lot permit.


VI.       Confirm Next Meeting and Agenda


            A CPAC meeting will also be held on Monday, August 4, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the District Board Room.
