I.          Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 a.m. by Chair Amrhein.

II.         Roll Check

A roll of the board was taken and all members were present with the exception of Director Littleton.

III.       Review Ashland Quality Education Model

Juli Di Chiro reviewed enrollment projects, the districtís 50 year facility study, maintenance evaluations of each elementary school site, and aerial photos of the school sites.   She asked how the district should maintain current programs with declining enrollment, and what should the district do with its extra land.

Some suggestions made by community member included:

Lease all five elementary school playgrounds to the Parks and Recreation Department for five years through a city levy.

The school district should point out to the City the connection that parents and students are paying the price for lack of affordable housing.

If the district leans toward development of extra land, focus on family friendly housing rather than affordable housing.

Bring the privately schooled kids back into the school district.

When the district surveys the community, be sure to include people who live in the district but have their children attending schools outside the district.

IV.            Adjournment

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:07 p.m.

Jeanne Peterson, Executive Secretary
