Ashland High School presents Disney’s The Little Mermaid March 1-10
Ashland High School theatre proudly presents Disney’s The Little Mermaid musical and 2009 Tony Award-winning Broadway. The cast and crew of 45 is directed by Caroline Shaffer. The eight performances will be March 1,2,8,9 @ 7:30 p.m. as well as 4 matinees on Saturday and Sunday, March 2, 3, 9, 10 at 2 p.m. Fun for the whole family!
The Little Mermaid features several classic songs including “Under The Sea,” “Kiss The Girl” and “Part of Your World,” as well as new songs written by Oscar-winning Disney composer Alan Menken, the mastermind behind “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin” and “Pocahontas.” Lyrics are by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater with a book by Doug Wright.
Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, Disney’s animated film and hit Broadway musical, The Little Mermaid tells the story of Ariel (Allie Poole ) who longs to leave her ocean home - and her fins - behind and live in the world above. She’ll first have to defy her mother, Queen Triton (Kate Jaques Prentice), make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula (Marin Monteith), and convince the handsome Prince Eric (Nicky Clary) that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking. With Sebastian (Leila Kenner), Flounder (Brooklyn Williams) and Scuttle (Yi Shostrum) by her side, she embarks on an adventure of a lifetime.
Rounding out the cast are Henry Alexander as Grimsby; Ella Stringer as Chef Louis; Ilaena Hepford,Keagan Brooks-Torres, Madison Davis, Ella Stringer, Anastasia Villarreal, Kaia O’Neil, the Mersisters, as well as Ileana Hepford and Felicity Kountz
as Flotsam and Jetsam, Ursula’s eels.
Little Mermaid features an extraordinary company including several Ashland School district elementary and middle school children.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid will be performed at Ashland HS Mountain Avenue Theatre located at 201 South Mountain Avenue in Ashland. The show runs for two weekends and includes 8 performances: Friday —Saturday, March 1, 2 and March 8, 9 @ 7:30 p.m. with four matinees on Saturday and Sunday matinees March 2, 3, 9, 10 @ 2 p.m. NOTE: There will be “fishy jokes,” ocean projects and recycled plastic art on display in the lobby 30 minutes prior to curtain before each show. Those in any Mermaid character attire will receive a free treat.
