Indigenous Peoples’ Day Assembly
On Monday October 9th 2017, Walker Elementary will participate in a historic Indigenous Peoples’ Day assembly. 9:30-10:30AM, SOU Rogue River Room
 
What is the Indigenous Peoples’ Day?
Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a time when we celebrate the historic, cultural, and contemporary significance of Indigenous/Native American people and their many contributions to this world.

9:30 Why Indigenous Peoples’ Day?
9:40 Story “How we got the drum” (kindergarteners exit after)
9:45 Round dance
9:55 Personal story
10:00 My culture is not a costume
10:10 Water is life
10:20 How can you carry Indigenous Peoples’ Day into the whole year? (Kids read their prepared statements).
10:30 Program ends and instructions from Principal Tiffany
