LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTIONS

1. Local Scholarship applications are available on-line on Monday, December 11, 2017. Enter your information on the application (most are fillable pdfs), print when completed, and turn it in with any required documents to the Counseling Office by 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 15, 2018
.

2. If a scholarship application says that a transcript is required, be sure to give the registrar, Tess Razzano, at least two days advance notice before you want it. Do not request transcripts for scholarships that do not require one. The Counseling Office can print an unofficial transcript for you.

3. Your GPA will be verified on each application after you turn it in. You do not have to ask someone to do it for you.

4. Clear plastic covers are acceptable, but staples are ok.

5. It is up to the person writing you a recommendation whether he/she wants it to be confidential in an envelope. If your recommendations are in envelopes, staple the envelope to the application. Please allow teachers and counselors at the least 1 week to write your letter.

6. If you receive one or more scholarships, you will be notified to attend the Scholarship Awards Evening on Thursday, May 24th at 7:00 P.M. in the Mountain Avenue Theater.

7. If you receive a scholarship, the name and address of the person/organization to whom you are to send a thank you note will be attached to the certificate you receive on Awards Night.

8. Any scholarship money you receive will be sent to the college you decide to attend in mid- August. We determine the attending school by the Senior Survey that you will fill out in May. It is your responsibility for making sure that Ashland High School has your current school, address, email, and phone number. Be sure that Karyn Barats knows of any changes to your school or address, or you may forfeit your scholarship.

9. Questions regarding applying to scholarships can be directed to Karyn Barats or Jennifer Marsden, in the Counseling Office. We are ready and willing to help you.

GOOD LUCK!
