Over the course of the semester, students from AHS business classes have been creating a new business venture from scratch. In groups, students have developed a prototype, marketing, management, and elevator pitch for their entrepreneurial idea. Students will put all their work to the test during the Ashland Business Trade Show and Ashland Business Pitch Competition where they will show off their work and compete to be the best entrepreneurial idea of the semester.
Ashland Business Trade Show Ashland High School - IVC Thursday, January 10, 2019 10:45 – 11:30 & 1:00 – 1:45
This is a trade show like environment where all the students in Ashland High School’s Intro to Business and Small Business classes will be showing off their entrepreneurial ideas. Students have booths with products to display and show off to judges along with their elevator pitch. Judging times span both class periods, but judges are able to come and go during those time periods as it fits their schedule. When at the trade show, judges will be asked to walk around and talk with the students about their business ideas, then vote for the ideas they like best.
*There is no specific time commitment for the trade show, judges can come and go as they please and spend as much or as little time as they want talking to and evaluating business ideas.
Ashland Business Pitch Competition Ashland High School – IVC Monday, January 14, 2019 11:00-11:45 & 1:00 – 1:45
This is a pitch competition where the groups that received the most votes from the trade show will present a 3 minute pitch to a judging panel. Judges will have time after the pitch to ask questions about the business plan. Judges will rate each group on a few different factors. Those ratings will be used to determine a winner of the competition over all.
*This day of judging will require judges to commit to the 45minutes of judging. Judges are welcome to attend both sessions, but that is not required.
