District Announces Choice for Next Superintendent
The Ashland School Board is pleased to announce the selection of Kelly A. Raymond
as the next superintendent for the Ashland School District (ASD). Ms. Raymond will begin on July 1, 2017, at the conclusion of interim superintendent Suzanne Cusick's appointment.
Ms. Raymond brings a wealth of experience to the ASD. Currently, she is the Executive Director for Instructional Leadership in Highline School District south of Seattle, WA. In this role she manages several principals in a district of almost 20,000 students. Ms. Raymond was raised and educated in Australia, where she earned a Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Administration from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia and a Bachelor of Education degree in Science and Mathematics from Australian Catholic University in Sydney, Australia.
Prior to her current job, Ms. Raymond helped improve the Technology Engineering Communications High (TECH) School in Tacoma, WA, serving as Principal for 4 years. She was also Director of High Schools and Professional & Organizational Development for 4 years in the Tacoma Public Schools. The TECH School was awarded a Washington School of Distinction Award during her tenure, as well as Bronze and Silver School awards from US News & World Report. Earlier in her career Ms. Raymond taught science and English for 11 years in the US, Australia and Japan.
