Brain Bowl Season begins

AMS Brain Bowl Season Begins November 14th.

The Middle School Brain Bowl is part of SOUís Youth Programs and is a quiz-style academic competition. Students in grades 6-8 form a team that competes in in weekly games with teams from Southern Oregon schools, similar to athletic competitions.  Questions are designed to be more challenging as each week passes.

The broad range of topics listed below encourage teamwork, as few individual students are strong in all topics. Quickness and willingness to take a risk are also important factors.
Topics:  Mathematics Science Social Studies
               Geography Language Arts General knowledge
               Fine Arts Literature

Tuesday practices begin on November 14th, during lunch and are open to all students.   The weekly competition season runs from mid January to March, followed by a semi-final week and finals  on SOPTV in April.

Meets take place during the school day, so students should be
prepared to stay current in their classes and make up missed work each week.

We are proud to say that AMS has reached the semi-finals every year but one since 2011, and we won the championship in 2013 and 2014.  The past two years we have had high participation rates and formed two complete teams.  Come check us out and see if this is a good fit for you.
