Eve Smyth has been acting and performing improvisation for 20 years. After graduating with a degree in theater from San Francisco State University, Eve performed and toured with her own theater company throughout the Northwest and was a co-founder of the San Francisco Fringe Festival.
Before moving to Southern Oregon in 2002, Eve taught and performed with BATS Improv and was Director of their Young Audiences program, where she facilitated improvisation workshops and performances in schools throughout the Bay Area. Besides BATS Improv, Eve also appeared with several other Bay Area improv groups including the writing performance group "First Draft".
As an emerging playwright, Eve received critical acclaim in Seattle and San Francisco for her solo show “What Big Teeth You Have! or Little Red Bites Back”. She has written several scripts for Ashland Children’s Theater, including “The Snow White Project” and “The Peter Pan Project”, both of which played to sold out houses.
Eve founded Ashland Children’s Theatre with Kate Sullivan at Oregon Stage Works in 2004 where she teaches acting and improvisation. Eve is also an understudy for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and is a member of the comedy improv troupe The Hamazons.
Eve feels that many of the basic improv tenets, like saying “Yes, and…” can be basic life tenets as \\well
