Ashland School District No. 5, Jackson County, Oregon - The Budget Committee met in a regular session on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the Ashland School District Board Room. Present were: Carol Davis ) Eva Skuratowicz ) Rick Barth ) Larry Cooper )
Jill Turner, Business Manager Jodi Vihavainen, Accountant Judy Kimball, Classified Representative I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. by Keith Massie. II. Roll Check A roll of the Committee was taken and all members were present with the exception of Richard Whitley. III. Appoint Presiding Officer Keith Massie nominated Curt Bacon for Presiding Officer. Rick Barth seconded and the motion passed unanimously. IV. Budget Message (Executive Officer) Juli Di Chiro presented the Executive Officer’s Message as outlined in the Budget Document. Ruth Alexander recommended that the Youth Activity and Athletics Levy be included in the summary as a concern for future budgets, stressing the importance of its continued passage. Jill Turner reviewed and explained the new layout of the budget document. She also explained her handout on enrollment. V. Confirm Meeting Dates and Times Meeting dates were confirmed for May 19 and May 26, 2010. VI. PowerPoint Presentation: The School Finance Outlook for 2010 and Beyond, from the Legislative Revenue Office, Head Economist, Paul Warner Juli Di Chiro presented the PowerPoint showing possible scenarios for the next biennium. VII. General Discussion Larry Cooper asked if there was information in the budget on the fundraising efforts of the Ashland Schools Foundation. The District will provide that information to the committee at a future meeting. Budget committee members were asked to email questions to Jill Turner and Juli Di Chiro. VIII. Set Agenda for Next Meeting The agenda for the next meeting will include response to questions and options for publication of the budget document IX.
