Ashland School District No.5, Jackson County, Oregon – The Budget Committee met in a regular session on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ashland School District Board Room. Present were: Ruth Alexander ) Mat Marr ) Heidi Parker ) Budget Committee Members Amy Patton ) Bill Anderson ) Curt Bacon ) Rick Barth ) Larry Cooper ) Juli Di Chiro, Superintendent Jill Turner, Business Manager Traci Adams, District Accountant Daniel Cazares, Certified Representative Judy Kimball, Classified Representative Media Representative I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Curt Bacon. II. Roll Check A roll of the Committee was taken and all members were present with the exception of Keith Massie and Richard Whitley. III. Review Revenue Forecast Juli Di Chiro and Jill Turner reviewed the revenue handouts and explained that the district budgeting to the $5.8 billion funding level appears to be adequate. IV. Review Questions and Answers: Juli Di Chiro and Jill Turner reviewed the answers emailed to the budget committee. Karl Kemper gave a presentation on the impact to athletics and an explanation of the cuts. V. Public Input Discussion was held about the Board needing to build up the district reserves Discussion was held on selling the Lincoln and/or Briscoe buildings for revenue. Discussion was held on encouraging the Board to entertain other revenue generating ideas. VI. General Discussion Discussion was held on pay-to-play for athletics and other programs. Mat Marr will not be present for the next two meetings and Amy Patton will not be present for the next meeting. VII. Set Agenda for Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on May 20, 2009, at 7:00 pm in the District Board Room. The agenda will include AMS & AHS Report (Impact of Budget Cuts), Review questions and answers, Public Input, General Discussions. VIII. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:14 p.m.
